Uploading Files
Delano includes a powerful upload system that allows you to transfer files to the Delano server. This upload system uses a Java applet (an application, written in Java, that can run inside a web page) to select the files and one to upload them. The Java Runtime Environment is required to run the applets.

NOTE: Delano also supports an upload system without Java applets or the Java Runtime Environment. This alternative system uses your browser’s upload functionality which is less flexible and powerful. Refer the Online Help for more information.

The following procedure describes how you can upload your files using the Java applets. The Upload tab of the Part has to be displayed to upload files.
Displaying the Upload tab
You can access the Part Upload tab from the My Products Overview tab, which is automatically displayed after you have logged on to Delano. If a different tab is displayed, proceed as follows to open the My Products Overview tab:
1 Click the Products menu on the menu bar.
The My Product Overview tab appears. The tab contains a list of Products for your company and the Parts in these Products assigned to you.
deltut3

The list contains the following Upload information:
The Upload icon: this icon offers direct access to the Delano Upload functionality.
Page status: the coloured numbers indicate the current state of pages in the Parts.

Colour Description
0 The grey number indicates the number of unavailable pages in this Part, which is in fact the number of pages to upload.
0 The orange number is the number of pages waiting for approval. If no pages have been approved yet, this number is the number of successfully uploaded pages.
0 The red number is the number of rejected pages.

If you have difficulties with the installation, please contact <Name> at <Number/email>.

Selecting one or more files to upload
Before you can upload files, you have to select the files to upload. The Part Upload tab has to be displayed to select files.
1 Click the Add… button on the Upload tab.
The “Select Files” window pops up on top of the Upload tab.

Add… button
NOTE: If you are using Windows XP, a built-in pop-up blocker may prevent the “Select Files” window from appearing. If this is the case, you will have to manually allow this window to be displayed. If you have problems doing this, please contact <Name> at <Number/email>.

In the “Select Files” window:
2 Use the Path list to navigate to the file(s) to upload.
3 Select the file(s) to upload in the Files list. Select only files to upload for this Part. You can select multiple files.
4 Click the Open button to confirm.
deltut6

The “Select Files” window is closed; the Part’s Upload tab is updated. The selected file(s) are added to the “Files selected for upload” list.

NOTE: When working on a Macintosh, the Part Upload tab is not automatically updated. You can click REFRESH refreshon the action bar to update the files list.

The “Files selected for upload” list is saved on the computer that was used to select the files; it can be viewed in Delano until you start the file upload. This allows you to browse other tabs (for example, to verify a page range on the Page Approval tab) and back to the Upload tab without losing the list. You can also continue selecting and uploading files in a next session providing you access Delano from the same computer. The list is personal; you can only access your own list.If you want to select more files to upload, you can click the Add… button again and repeat the procedure described above.
Specifying pages
When the files to upload are selected, you have to specify which pages are contained in the selected files before you start uploading. You have to specify the page range and the start page for every selected file on the Part Upload tab.
1 Specify the page number or page range in the “Part Page Range” field.
To indicate a single page, enter the number of the page in the Part that corresponds with the page in the file. For example, page range 9 means that the file contains page 9 in the Part. Remaining pages in the file will be ignored.
To indicate a range of pages, enter the number of the first and the last page (not to confuse with the total number of pages) in the Part, separated by a dash (-). A page range can only contain consecutive pages. For example, page range 9-16 means that the file contains 8 consecutive pages and that the first page in the file is page 9 in the Part. Remaining pages in the file will be ignored.
2 (If appropriate) Enter the number of the start page in the “File Start Page” field.
By default, the specified page range starts with the first page in the file (File Start Page: 1). Specify a different start page only if you want to skip pages at the beginning of files that contain multiple pages.

Uploading the selected files
If the page range and start page is set for every file, you are now ready to upload the files. Uploading always applies to ALL selected files on the Part Upload tab.
Click HTTP UPLOAD uploadon the action bar.
If all selected files are valid, the upload is started. The “Files selected for upload” list on the Part Upload tab is cleared and the “Delano HTTP Upload” window appears on top of the Upload tab. The window contains a list of files that are being uploaded.

deltut7

Uploading the selected files
If the page range and start page is set for every file, you are now ready to upload the files. Uploading always applies to ALL selected files on the Part Upload tab.
Click HTTP UPLOAD on the action bar.
If all selected files are valid, the upload is started. The “Files selected for upload” list on the Part Upload tab is cleared and the “Delano HTTP Upload” window appears on top of the Upload tab. The window contains a list of files that are being uploaded.

CAUTION: The upload session only runs if the Delano HTTP Upload window remains open.
If a file is successfully uploaded, its check box is selected. If file upload was not successful, a failure reason is displayed in the Delano HTTP Upload window (Remark). You will have to select the (corrected) file(s) again, specify a (different) page range for every file, and upload the files.
When the file upload session has ended (when “Upload Finished” is displayed at the top of the window), you can close the window by clicking its close box. After the Upload window is closed, the “Content Mappings” list is updated to contain the references to all files and page ranges assigned to the Part.

NOTE: If a selected file is not valid, the upload will not be started. An error message appears. The message includes the reason why upload is not possible, for example, “...due to missing page ranges.” If you have problems solving a reported error, please contact <Name> at <Number/email> for assistance.

If you have finished uploading pages for this Part, you can click the Products option on the menu bar to display to the My Products Overview tab on which you can view the status of the Products and Parts assigned to you. If you want to upload more files, you can click the Add… button again and repeat the procedures to select files and specify pages as described above.
