Reseaching JDF technology. Designing Powerpoint presentations to enable customers to have an overview of the the print process within a pdf workflow, designing promotions in In-Design, Photoshop and Illustrator to submit for awards. Attended the Agfa Academy of Pre-Press Technology, trained to use Agfa Apogee X imposition Software. Wrote and designed a bespoke training manual for an award winning printers pre press unit.
2005 2001
Participated in the first UK MacWorld conference. Covered Photoshop CS, Digital Image Capture, Professional Panther Mac OSX 10.3 Producing websites using Dreamweaver MX, Flash MX, Fireworks MX. Using In-Design 2 and Illustrator 10 to produce 4 colour work. Conducting a “profile course” in PDF workflow in order that publishers obtain an overview of the pre press world. Set up my own website. www.noduffstuff.co.uk Learning Applescript programming language. Training in application, retouching and scanning skills. Took part in a Photoshop Masterclass.
1999

Training at TECSA factory, Diss, Norfolk, learning how to operate a B1 copydot scanner with bookcut, deimposition packages using Windows NT4 enabling CRC to be scanned and sent direct to plate using Agfa Galileo CTP system. Completed an advanced maintenance course on the TECSA scanner.

1998

Visited Agfa in Antwerp, Belgium for a technology update on PDF workflows via Apogee and Faroukh imposition software, producing imposed film via an Avantra 44 imagesetter.

1997 1996

Moved into a PDF Digital Workflow trained on Photoshop versions 4 & 5, Quark 3.32. Acrobat 3. Specialised in Photoshop and Greyscale scanning on Agfa Duoscan producing page layouts via Quark ready for digital imposition.

1995
Moved into Pre-Press manual planning and platemaking department. Passed NVQ in Planning Origination and Platemaking. Obtained Basic Health & Safety Certificate and Fire Brigade Basic Fire Extinguisher Certificate. Planned CRC, film and did some two colour positive film planning. Learnt how to use OMS Camera and printdown frames.
1993
Joined an award winning printers. Started work in the Bindery. Trained and operated the following on a Kolbus Compact Line: Pressing Unit, Jacketing Machine and the Three Knife Trimmer.
1992 1982
Owned a small offset jobbing printers in Newquay. Learnt to run AM Multilith WL A4 offset press, Rotoprint 30/90 SRA2 offset press with chain delivery, Agfa 1000 Repromaster Studio Camera, AM Varityper typesetter, Silvermaster A3 platemaker, Parker A2 printdown frame. Customers Booker, Woolworths and the King Edward VII hospital. Sold the business.
1982-1976
Account Executive for H.E.Warnes magazine printers in St. Austell Cornwall. (Later became Chase Web Offset part of the St. Ives Group.) Responsible for the production of twelve monthly titles such as The Design Council’s “Design Magazine” and M.A.P.’s “Model Railways.” Liazed between Warne’s the editors and advertising managers etc over the production of four colour sets, galleys, passing of proofs and space allocated between editorial and advertising.
1975 1968
Power Tool Designs, Highcliff, Hampshire. Served a five year apprenticeship which included day release to college. Qualified as a Contract Design Draughtsman and studied technical illustration Accounts included Plessy Electronics, Ford,Triumph.
