Our scanning policy

Being passionate about photoshop and excellent digital reproduction we specialise in a scanning service whereby every scan is taken into photoshop and optimized for the price of a straight scan. Photographs that require light retouching will incur no extra charge. Simple cutouts or clipping paths if required can be embedded in the files at no extra charge. Heavy retouching is charged on a time basis. .

All our work is archived including the original scan and files supplied.

Note:

All our scanning is achieved in 16bit mode then the files after adjustment are converted to 8 bit mode. This technique results in the highest quality achievable. We convert back to 8 bit mode by default as most software programs cannot handle 16 bit files.

These images have had the backgrounds removed by means of a clipping path and they have been saved as an eps or tiff file, (these file formats save the path). This means you can keep the background in the image and if you need the image for another reason to print with the background in it, you can just switch of the clipping path.

This would incur no extra charge.

These two results show the effect of light retouching of an old photograph that has sustaned some water damage. This type of work is carried out at no extra charge.

These two results show the effect of heavy retouching work on a badly cracked picture that was kept rolled up an when it was opened the emulsion was damaged. This would incur an extra charge.

When scanning from a printed image you can sometimes see a pattern called "moire" otherwise known as screen clash, as shown in the image on the left. At No Duff Stuff we remove screen clash at no extra charge as in the image on the right.

On the left is a late evening shot in the desert. The camera had difficulty in the low desert light. The image was adjusted using Photoshop Lab mode, and the correct color of the sand gave it much more impact. This service is included at no extra charge.
